FAQs
What is Little Athletics?

Little Athletics is an uniquely Australian modified athletics program for children from 3 years old, based on the sport of athletics (track and field). There is a wide range of running, jumping, throwing and walking events which are modified to suit the age, developmental stage and ability of children. Little Athletics promotes that it is important to “Be your Best” with the emphasis on fun, participation, technique and getting involved with your family in a physical and healthy activity. The motto of Little Athletics is ‘Family, Fun and Fitness”. Across Australia, more than 100,000 children participate in Little Athletics weekly meets with both summer and winter programs available. Little Athletics is the “Foundation for all Sports”. All sports use the skills developed at Little Athletics.

What level of ability should my child have?

Children of all abilities can register at Mid Coast Little Athletics.  Our emphasis is on Personal Bests.  Our coaching team recognise that children come with many different levels of ability and we can cater for this.

Can my child still join if they’ve never done athletics before?

Absolutely! Most children start with no athletics experience, and Little Athletics is designed to teach skills step by step. The focus is on personal improvement, having fun, and building confidence.

How do I register my child/ren?

We are sorry you are experiencing difficulty with the new SALAA platform.

Do I need to wear a uniform?

Yes, all athletes are expected to wear a club shirt with their bib to all meets. To view the uniform visit: https://mid-coast.littleaths.com.au/join-our-club#uniform. All athletes must also wear black shorts.

Do parents need to volunteer?

Little Athletics cannot run without parent involvement and volunteers. To do this, our Centre relies heavily on parent participation. Without your help this recreation would cease to exist for our children.

Tasks that the Centre needs parents to assist with at each meet include, but are not limited to:

· Arena set-up from 8:30am

· Arena pack-up at the end of the meet

· Time keepers for running events

· Spiking and measuring for field events

· Chaperones to record results for each age group

· Assisting with Tiny Tots

· Cooking the barbeque and assisting in the canteen

· Committee members

Please speak with a member of the committee if you have any questions or special interest/ss.
